About her music Experience

What is it like for you when you see your albums out or hear your own music? Well, it’s quite weird, I listen to it with fascination, I feel quite removed from it.
But anyway I’m into all sorts of music it just depends on my mood. Everything from Beethoven to experimental music.
I’ve wanted to play reggae a lot lately!!!
And I have been playing a lot of myself lately - that happens when you are recording!!!

Ultimately I am a songwriter, once I’ve written it – that’s how the song is..

I’ve worked with a lot of people over the years. All through school I played music and been in the choir
There's been in a few bands in Melbourne I have been in, mainly Garage scenes but they were fun anyway. And then I’ve been in some really odd things too you know with experimental sort of stuff.
In nz: I’ve played with artist Tom Much and he had a group called “Looking for a Band “ he was really into music as well as his art, so I played with him and a guy called John Cooksley. We put some cassettes out because I am an old fart!!

I played with Willow and Jan (O’Donahue) – played some flute. Jan, excellent song writer! I hope she is still writing.
Channa Miriam and of course I was in Jallal (5 piece all women band) for a few years which was started by Leonie and myself - I was sick of playing with guys and being the token female - not being listened too even though I had this wealth of experience.
Jallal was a fantastic band. The album never came out. Done stuff with Peter Jefferies. Played on two albums: Sub Static and Closed Circuit. Then Three Ring Circus and now working on Another Full Moon. I received a Royalty cheque from Three Ring Circus (that is how I know it got played!!!)
My songs get played on student radio. Premonition is played often. It’s all around the world – Marianne Faithful has an album. I went to one of her concerts and sat right up front and when she had finished I said Marianne please could I give you this and she said “Oh (In a wonderful voice) is this you? And then the cameo moment was when she waved my album in front of thousands at the Aotea Centre in Auckland!!

When I'm not writing songs, I'm teaching music!
